In the Name of God Amen
I SAMUEL FORD of Streatly in the county of Berks yeoman being something indisposed in Bodily health but of Sound and perfect Mind Memory and understanding thanks be to God calling to Mind the uncertainty of Life and the Certainty of Death so make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in Writing in manner following - first I commend my Soul to God and my Body to the Earth to be decently buried at the direction of my Executor hereinafter named and as to such Worldly State as the Lord of his Mercy hath bestowed upon me and give and dispose thereof in manner following Imprimis I give and devised unto my Nephew JOHN FORD son my late Brother PARFETT FORD all my Freehold messuages lands Tenements Hereditaments and premises whatsoever with their Appurtenances Situated lying and being in the parishes of South Stoke and Watlington in the County of Oxford To hold unto my said Nephew JOHN FORD and his heirs and assigns forever from and immediately after my decease subject nevertheless and Charged and Chargeable with the Payment of the yearly sum of Twelve Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain unto my dear and loving Wife FRANCES and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural Life by two equal half yearly Payments the first Payment therest to be made and begin upon Michaelmas or Lady Day which shall first happen after my decease and from and from and immediately after the decease of said Wife then I do subject and Charge all my said freehold Premises with the Payment of the like yearly sum of Twelve Pounds of the lawful Money unto my loving Brother BERNARD FORD and his Assigns for and during the term of his natural Life to be paid in the manner of two equal half yearly Payments the first Payment thereof to be made and begin upon such of the said feast days as first shall happen next after the decease of my said loving Wife and from and immediately after the several deceases of my said loving Wife and Brother BERNARD then I do hereby further Subject and Charge all my said freehold Premises with the Payment of the Yearly Sum of Twelve Pounds of the lawful money unto my Niece CATHERINE the Daughter of my said Brother BERNARD and her Assigns for and during the term of her natural Life to be paid in the manner of two equal half yearly Payments the first Payment interest to be made and begin upon the first of he said two feasts that shall happen and comes next after the decease of my said Wife and Brother BERNARD and my Will is I do hereby empower my said loving Wife Brother BERNARD and CATHERINE my Niece or either of them whose annuity shall be behind and unpaid by the space of Twenty one days next after the same shall enter into and upon enter any part of my said freehold premises charged with the Payment interest and distrain for the same and the distress or distresses so to be taken to Sell and dispose of as landlords distraining for Rent by Law may do and my Will also is that the said annuity or yearly sum shall be paid unto my said Wife Brother and Niece clear of all taxes and as I have hereby made the first Payment to my said Wife at the first of the feasts next after my decease so I would not have her Representatives have or be entitled to any Part of it from the last Preceding feast day of Payment before her death and so in like manner my said Brother and Niece then I give and bequeath into my said Loving Wife all my household goods to be delivered unto her immediately after my decease then I give and bequeath unto my said Wife the Legacy or Sum of forty five pounds of the lawful Money to be Paid to her as follows that is to say fifteen Pounds part thereof to be paid to her by my Executor immediately after my decease and the remaining thirty Pounds I do hereby order and direct to be left in the hands of my said Executor and not to Pay lawful Interest to my said Wife for the same But if it shall appear to my Trustees hereinafter named that my said Wife shall at any time thereafter have a real occasion for the said thirty Pounds or any Part thereof that then my Wife is that the Sum or any Part thereof shall be paid to her by my said executor at such times and in such proportions as my said Trustees or the Survivors or Survivor of them shall order and appoint them I give and bequeath unto my said Brother BERNARD and to his daughter CATHERINE the Sum of five Pounds a piece of the Lawful Money then I give and bequeath unto my Nephew and Godson SAMUEL FORD the Sum of Six Pounds of the Money and also one silver spoon marked SF then I give and bequeath unto my Sister MARY EVANS Wife of ROBERT EVANS the Sum of Fifteen Pounds of like Money Then I give and bequeath unto my two Nieces CATHERINE and SARAH Daughters of my Brother HENRY FORD the Sum of fifteen Pounds a piece of the Lawful Money Then I give and bequeath unto my Nephews PARFETT and BERNARD FORD Sons of my late Brother PARFETT FORD the Legacy or Sum of Six Pounds a piece of like Money I likewise give and bequeath unto my said Nephew PARFETT FORD my Brewing Copper and all my Brewing vessels to be delivered to him immediately after my decease nevertheless my said Wife shall have the liberty of using such Part thereof of may be necessary for her own use during her Life I likewise give and bequeath to my said Nephew PARFETT FORD all my Woollen wearing Apparel to be delivered to him immediately after my decease Then I give and bequeath unto WILLIAM Son of my Nephew ROBERT PARKER the Sum of Six Pounds of like Lawful Money all which said Legacys I do hereby order my Executor hereinafter named to pay within one year next after my decease Then I give and bequeath unto my Niece JANE SUMPTER the Sum of Six Pounds of like Lawful Money to be lid out in Cloaths or otherwise as my Executor and Trustees or the majority of them shall think proper Then my Will is that after the decease of my said Wife my Brother BERNARD and CATHERINE his daughter and my said Estates shall become wholly vested in the said JOHN FORD then I hereby do give and bequeath the further Sum of five Pounds a piece unto the said SAMUEL FORD  MARY EVANS  CATHERINE and SARAH Daughters of my said Brother HENRY FORD  PARFETT and BERNARD FORD  JANE SUMPTER and WILLIAM PARKER to be paid unto them respectively by the said John ford and I do hereby Charge and make liable the said Estates with the Payment thereof then I give and bequeath unto the Poor of the Parish of Streatly the Sum of forty Shillings of Lawful Money to be paid by my Executor to the Minister Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish immediately after my decease and to be by them disposed to the Poor in such proportions as they shall think Proper then all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattels ready money Debts owing and Personal Estate whatsoever not hereinbefore by me given and disposed of by Debts Legatees and funeral and Testamentary expenses being first Paid and discharged I give unto my said Nephew JOHN FORD son of my late Brother PARFETT whom I do nominate and appoint full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made either by Word or in Writing and I do declare this to be my last Will and no other and I do appoint my friends GEORGE BEATON  THOMAS CHILD and RICHARD CHILD Gentlemen Trustees of this my Will and desire they will see the same by Witness wherest the said SAMUEL FORD the Testator have to this my Will contained in two sheets of paper to the first the first set my hand and Seal this Seventeenth Day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty seven - SAMUEL FORD
