This is the last Will and Testament of me ELLEN EGGLETON of Wardrobes in the Parish of Princes Risborough in the County of Buckingham Widow I give devise and bequeath all and every my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever (except as to Copyhold and Customary hereditaments) unto my Trustee and Executor hereinafter named Upon trust that he shall so soon as conveniently may be after my decease sell and convert into money all such part of my estate as shall not consist of money or securities for money and in his discretion at any time within four years after my decease pay or cause to be paid unto each of my eleven children namely ANN the Wife of WILLIAM WOOSTER THOMAS EGGLETON GEORGE EGGLETON MARY the Wife of JOHN EAST RUTH the wife of JASPER KINGHAM JOSEPH EGGLETON JOHN EGGLETON SARAH EGGLETON BENJAMIN EGGLETON WILLIAM EGGLETON and ELIZABETH the Wife of WILLIAM CALLAM one equal eleventh part of the sum of Two thousand pounds without any deduction or abatement but I direct that Interest after the rate of Four pounds per centum per annum to be reckoned from the end of Twelve months after my decease shall be paid by my said Executor to each or either of my said children upon such part of the said sum of Two thousand pounds as may remain owing to them or either of them within the said four years And that if any or either of the said intended legatees shall happen to die leaving issue such issue shall take the share and interest per stirpes and not per capita under this my Will which their his or her deceased parent would have taken if living

I devise all estates vested in me as Trustee or Mortgagee (except as to Customary or Copyhold hereditaments) unto the said JOHN EAST his heirs and assigns for the estate which I have therein and upon the trusts to which the same are subject And as to all copyhold or customary hereditaments vested in me or over which I have any disposing power at the time of my decease I direct my Trustee the said JOHN EAST so soon as conveniently may be after my decease to make sale thereof and absolutely dispose of same either together or in lots and either by public auction or private contract and to surrender convey and assure the same when sold unto the purchaser or purchasers thereof or as he she or they shall direct And I direct that the clear sale monies arising therefrom and all other personal Estate of mine (if any) shall be equally divided among my said eleven children namely ANN WOOSTER THOMAS EGGLETON GEORGE EGGLETON MARY EAST RUTH KINGHAM JOSEPH EGGLETON JOHN EGGLETON SARAH EGGLETON BENJAMIN EGGLETON WILLIAM EGGLETON and ELIZABETH CALLAM

And [ ] of the trusts of this my Will I declare and direct that the receipt or receipts of the Trustee for the time being of my Will for any purchase monies arising from the sale of my real estate and also for any other monies payable to him under or by virtue thereof shall be a sufficient and effectual discharge for such monies respectively or so much thereof respectively as in such receipt or receipts shall be expressed or acknowledged to be received and that the person or persons to whom such receipt or receipts shall be given his her or their executors or administrators shall not afterwards be answerable or accountable for any loss misapplication or nonapplication of the said monies or be obliged or concerned to see to the application of the same or any part thereof I declare that if my said Trustee or any Trustees or Trustee to be appointed under this clause shall die or be unwilling or incompetent to accept or execute the trusts of my Will it shall be lawful for the competent accepting Trustee or Trustees for the time being (if any) whether retiring from the Office of Trustee or not or if none for the executors or administrators or any or either of the executors or administrators of the last deceased Trustee to substitute by any writing under their or his hands or hand any person or persons in whom alone or (as the case may be) jointly with any continuing Trustee or Trustees my Trust Estate shall be vested And I authorise and empower my said Executor or Executors in their or his absolute discretion to pay satisfy arrange compound or take security for release waiver suspend or refer to arbitration any sums of money debts accounts claims and demands whatsoever which may be owing to or from or be claimed or be made on behalf of or from or against my personal estate or in respect of any business in which I may be concerned at the time of my decease in such manner and upon such evidence as they or he shall think fit whether the same be legally enforceable or not And I declare that my Executor hereinafter named shall not be answerable or accountable for his acts deeds or default nor for any involuntary loss or losses but for his own wilful neglect or default only And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my Son in law the said JOHN EAST Trustee and sole Executor of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills and Testamentary dispositions heretofore by me made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In testimony whereof I have at the foot of this my Will contained in three sheets of paper and also to the two preceding sheets set my hand this tenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine – ELLEN EGGLETON – Signed published and declared by the said Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto set our hands as Witnesses – THOS. This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me ELLEN EGGLETON of Wardrobes in the Parish of Princes Risborough in the County of Buckingham Widow bearing date the Tenth day of March One thousand eight hundred and sixty nine Whereas in and by my said Will I have given devised and bequeathed all and every my real and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever (except copyhold and customary hereditaments) unto my Trustee and Executor thereinafter named Upon certain trusts therein named Now I do hereby reserve and except out of such gift and bequest All my linen and household furniture of which I may be possessed at the time of my decease and do hereby give and bequeath such linen and household furniture unto my daughter SARAH EGGLETON for her own absolute use and in all other respects I confirm my said Will In witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand this third day of February One thousand eight hundred and seventy – ELLEN EGGLETON – Signed published and declared by the said Testatrix ELLEN EGGLETON as and for a Codicil to her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto set out hands as Witnesses – WILLIAM LANGSTON Farm labourer – AMOS CROCKETT Farm labourer

Proved at Oxford with a Codicil the Fifth day of July 1871 by the Oath of JOHN EAST the sole Executor named in the Will to whom Administration was granted
